Description

The golden Yacón, a relative of the sunflower, is similar in growth habits. It is a plant from the Andes with purple tubers (roots) and golden yellow flowers.
Raw or cooked, the tubers are sweet like a mix of apple, pear, and watermelon, resembling a sweeter version of jicama. It's also known as Pear of the Earth.
