Description
Antique,18th century, Indo Persian Islamic Indian Mughal sword with pistol shape steel hilt, silver inlaid with foliage and chevrons. With sturdy serpentine-shaped steel blade, decorated on both sides of the blade with silver inlaid koftgari (worn out).
REFERENCE: Islamic swords with similar types of the serpentine blades are in the Imperial collection in the Topkapi Saray Museum in Istanbul, Turkey. Please see Islamic swords and swordsmiths by Unsal Yucel.
CONDITION: Showing age and usage, with age patina, some wear to silver inlaid on the hilt, silver inlaid on the blade worn out.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 77.5 cm (30.51 inches).
